Fall 2021 New Student Orientation

We're excited to welcome you to CU! We want you to know how grateful we are to have your trust as we partner with you on your academic journey. To ensure you’re confident and prepared for your first day of classes, we have split our New Student Orientation experience into two parts - online and on-campus.

Part 1: Online Orientation

Part one of your orientation will be available to you online through Canvas beginning July 8th. Online Orientation consists of ten informative modules that provide you with the information you need to rise and succeed as a new Phoenix.

This first part of orientation is a requirement for all new students and should be completed no later than Aug 22nd. You can do all the orientation modules at once, or complete them a little at a time - however you choose to learn, be sure you’re all done before the first day of class on August 23rd.

To get started: Login to Canvas

Canvas is an online course management tool that professors will utilize to display course-related content. This is the platform you will use to access the New Student Orientation modules. All the modules will be available beginning July 1st.

To login, visit and enter your student email (example and email password.

You’ll be prompted to accept an invitation to the “Orientation Fall ‘21” course. Select the green accept button at the top of the screen and you’re ready to go!

If you have trouble accessing Canvas or your student email, please email

Get the grade

Part one of Orientation will count as a grade in your Foundations in Scholarship and Learning (FSL) class, which means you’ll want to be sure to allow enough time to complete all of the modules before your first day of class. Who doesn’t like the idea of getting an A on the first day?

Part 2: On-Campus Orientation August 20-22

Mark your calendar for Friday, August 20th at 1pm! We’ll be gathering on campus to welcome you and all your fellow Phoenix to CU! The fun continues through the weekend with exciting events on both Saturday and Sunday. This event is very important and is a requirement for all new students to attend.

Orientation check-in will begin at 12:00 PM at Alumni Hall, located at 212 Leeville Pike. At check-in you'll receive your Orientation packet. This packet will contain all the information you will need to participate in the scheduled events. View the Orientation Guide here.
