Do parents come with students to Orientation?
Yes. Parents have a separate Orientation that runs concurrently with New Student Orientation. Parent Orientation is filled with informational sessions that will help parents understand their roles in their child’s success as a student.

How do I stay involved as a parent?
We invite you to join the Cumberland University Parents Association to stay connected with university activities and outreach. Email CUPA at cupa@cumberland.edu to see how you can get involved. You can also follow us on social media.

What is my role in my child’s college experience?
As a parent, you’ve spent years encouraging your child to reach this point in their academic career. In college, your child will still need guidance and support. Here are a few ways to support your child:

Encourage them to connect their passion with a student organization. Getting involved on campus is extremely important in the overall success of students.

Help your student make a calendar of important dates, including the FAFSA deadline.

Familiarize yourself with on-campus resources available to your child, like disability services, counseling services and campus security.
