What got you interested in photography?

My dad started taking photos of my older brother while he played basketball and I became fascinated by it. So, he showed me the beginnings and it just kind of blossomed from there. I grew on what I learned from him from researching tips and tricks on the internet and just practicing with the camera, using anything and everyone as a model. 

So, would you consider yourself an expert photographer?

Oh, no. I’m still constantly learning. There’s never a point where I’m like, “I have it all down.” I’m constantly learning new things.

What’s your favorite thing to photograph?

I really enjoy capturing lifestyle shots and photos that capture diverse people. I always want to elevate people’s voices through the photographs I take, whether that be by showing someone their own beauty or making someone’s vision come alive. I try to make other people feel and look good.

I also love capturing live-action shots of athletes from games. During my time at CU, I’ve gotten really close with a lot of the student-athletes and learned a lot from them about their passion for their sport. So when I get to take photos of them during their games, I get to see this passion that they talk about through my lens; the experience is incomparable to anything else.

What are your plans post-college?  

I want to be a sports media manager for a D-1 school or for the NFL. That’s really where all the hype is. Being around all that energy from fans who are so passionate about the game and the excitement they get from seeing their favorite players on the field is invigorating. 

How have you spent your time at CU?

I’ve made a lot of new friends and have gotten to know a lot of people from different backgrounds and cultures because our student population is so diverse. I was also a CU Social Media Influencer last spring and was able to go to a lot of events where I got to meet a lot of people. I was a part of the ARM and I AM Human marches on campus which were both really important to me because being a part of movements that work to elevate diverse voices on campus that need to be heard is something that is so relevant right now. 

What’s something that stands out about your experience at CU?

My professors are willing to sit down one-on-one with me anytime I have a question or don’t understand what’s being taught in class. They want to understand what I don’t understand and figure out a solution. They’re all so personable!
