Cumberland University and the Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation to Award Scholarships to Wilson County High School Graduates

Cumberland University and the Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation announced today plans to award up to $20,000 in scholarships to students attending Cumberland University.

The scholarships will be awarded by the Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation, a restricted fund at Cumberland, to Wilson County high school graduates attending Cumberland in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Proceeds from the 5th Annual Tyler McChurch Memorial Golf Tournament will fund the scholarships. The tournament will be held June 17, 2019 at the Five Oaks Golf & Country Club.

The Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation was established five years ago by the McChurch family in memory of their son, Tyler, who lost his life in a tragic car accident at the age of 29. In addition to awarding scholarships, the foundation supports youth sports programs in Wilson County.

Since its inception, the Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation has awarded $80,000 in scholarships, $40,000 in support of youth football and baseball programs, and co-sponsored the Wilson Post All Wilson County High School Football Team Awards Breakfast. The foundation has also supported the Empower Day Camp and various Cumberland Athletic programs.

Scholarship applications are now available at www.cumberland.edu/scholarships/ or www.tmacmemorialscholarship.com. The deadline for application submission is April 1, 2019. Students attending Cumberland under the Tennessee Promise Program are not eligible for this scholarship.
