Looking Back on my College Experience

This year, I will have been at Cumberland University for four and a half years and will complete my undergraduate degree! This is so crazy to me because I can remember just how it felt walking into my first Foundations of Scholarship and Learning (FSL) class with Courtney Vick. It honestly hasn’t even sunk in that after this semester, I will officially be a college graduate. When they say time flies when you’re having fun, they mean it. And yes, I am saying college was fun! The all-nighters, events on the quad, speeches, powerpoints, and even the papers; these are all things that remind me of a time where I became who I wanted to be!
Going to college has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. I was able to move out, buy my own car, advance in my career, pay off my student debt, and make some of the best memories of my life! Through my business classes, I have been able to perfect my resume and advance in my job to the point where I’m able to travel for work. Not every 20-year-old gets to travel the United States for their job! The only regret I have is not being more involved. Many events came and went, and unfortunately, I passed them up because I thought I just needed to rest. Now I know that these are once in a lifetime opportunities that I won’t get back! However, I was able to be a part of a little bit of everything, and I think that has truly made me such a better student, or dare I say, adult.
Looking back, I am so glad I chose to go to Cumberland for college. I’ve had too many hairstyles, tons of personal pizzas and many, MANY coffees to get me where I am today.
Cumberland has been my home for over 4 years, and I’m a little nervous about the next step, but one thing I know for sure is that no matter where I go, I will rise up like the Phoenix I am!
