At Cumberland University, our students are dependent each day on multiple resources that are readily offered to them only because of you- their Cumberland Family. Our community, alumni, faculty/staff, Board of Trust, parents, and friends all make a significant impact on our students while they are on campus and as they rise beyond and embark on their next journey after graduation. At our commencement ceremonies each year your continuous belief in and encouragement of our students is evident and their gratitude overwhelming. “Thank You” simply doesn’t say enough.
Each year, the goal of our annual giving campaign, Rise Together, is to not only sustain student resources, but to also help bridge the gap between tuition and operating expenses. These flexible funds allow us to provide important tools that will encourage our students to succeed both in the classroom and in life. Counseling services, access to an advisor, tutoring services, better infrastructural technology, scholarships, and Greek Life along with many other campus opportunities are supported through Rise Together. Working together to support this common goal, we are able to ensure Cumberland’s competitive reputation and reinforce the idea that a degree from Cumberland University is a degree beyond yourself.
A current nontraditional student, Shonda Lynn Frizzell, shared recently with me that she can easily identify the ways in which her own success as a CU student has been impacted. “Because of the giving of others I have better access to research tools, support in financial aid, and mentorship in the classroom. Tools like these are key to any student’s success and provide an advantage to all Cumberland students.” It’s clear that our students understand the value of your support and are making the most of the opportunities your giving affords them.
