Lebanon Businesses Join Cumberland in Welcome Week

The Lebanon community will join Cumberland University this year welcoming students back to campus Aug. 22 through Aug. 27 during Welcome Week.

For the first time, Cumberland is offering local businesses yard signs and window decals that can be displayed throughout the year in support of Cumberland Phoenix. Businesses can reserve items to be picked up at any of the Wilson County Chamber of Commerce locations or the Catron Alumni House on Cumberland’s campus. Delivery options are also available. “As our faculty and staff welcome our students to campus, we are excited to ask community members to join us. By simply displaying a yard sign, window decal, or logo on your website, we can show the students how much they mean to Wilson County. Our annual giving campaign, Rise Together, offers multiple ways the community can rally together to support our students while ensuring daily resources are accessible on their academic journey to success,” said Director of Annual Giving Katie Wolfe. “Welcome Week is an exciting time of the year for our community,” said Cumberland University President Paul C. Stumb. “This is the first year local businesses will join us in showing their support for our university and students by proudly displaying signs in their windows. Celebrating both our new and returning students takes campus and community support.”

Every year, students are able to connect with the Wilson County community during Cumberland’s Annual Community Picnic to be held on Aug. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. inside the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.

Welcome Week is a Cumberland tradition that takes place during the first full week of school. This year’s Welcome Week Student Life activities include paint parties, outdoor movies, goat yoga, pool parties, bowling and tailgating before Cumberland’s first football game of the season.

If you’re a business owner and would like to reserve Cumberland items for Welcome Week, visit your local Chamber of Commerce. To register for the Cumberland Community Picnic before Aug. 17, visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfVaJ5H-WL920Vox6VCGITgDattD9dsDt2t4kWwMJ8Zg_ePyQ/viewform
