Ghosts and Goblets raises money for Pope scholarship at CU

10/13/2017

The spirits will materialize for the Ghosts and Goblets fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 27 from 7-10 p.m. in Cumberland University’s Baird Chapel.

Ghosts and Goblets was formed in 2015 as a way to memorialize longtime Cumberland history professor Monty Pope. Money raised from the event goes toward the Monty and Pace Pope Scholarship for history and international students at CU. Pace Pope and her family, John, Traci, Spencer, Kristi, and Monty’s sister, Brenda, along with Cumberland alumni and friends put on the event every other year.

Natalie Inman and Rick Bell, professors of history at CU, will lead the campus ghost tours, which includes many surprises! Monty Pope started the popular campus ghost tour for students many years ago. The event also includes a heavy hors d’oeuvres and dessert buffet, along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The attire is “fun, fall casual.”

The public is invited to Ghosts and Goblets, and can purchase tickets, which are $60 for individuals or $100 for couples, by calling Nova Lawrence at 615-547-1269, or Pace Pope at 615-547-1206.
