A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Mia Abernathy has pursued her continuing education at local universities, graduating with honors in all of her studies. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, elected by Trevecca Nazarene University to the Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and is a Certified Professional for the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP). She is also a published author, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Ms. Abernathy has worked as a Human Resources Director for over 24 years and is a servant leader with a passion for people who supports and encourages a positive work environment.

Ms. Abernathy lived and worked in Misawa, Japan, and Sembach, Germany, during the early stages of her career. She loves to travel to exotic places with her husband and spend quality time with her children and grandchildren.

Alana Barnett graduated from high school at Hamilton County High in Florida in 1992. She attended North Florida Community College on a musical scholarship, where she performed with the Sentinel Singers.

Alana married and moved to Texas in 1996, she lived there for nine years. While in Texas she started her career in retail management. Throughout her career she also worked in childcare. She moved to Tennessee in 2004 and worked as a preschool teacher for eight years. 

In 2008 she started her photography business, AB Photography. She specializes in natural light family sessions. 

Alana joined Cumberland in the fall of 2019. She is currently the Human Resources Generalist for Cumberland University.

She resides in Mt. Juliet with her husband and three children. Alana enjoys spending time with friends and family. Her favorite place to visit is the beach. Her hobbies include photography, singing, painting, hiking, traveling, and scrapbooking.
