Cumberland University to hold inaugural Arts Extravaganza April 6-7

Cumberland University is thrilled to announce its upcoming Arts Extravaganza, a first-of-its-kind event showcasing the exceptional talents of its fine and performing arts students. The extravaganza will take place on Saturday, April 6, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the historic Capitol Theatre located at 110 West Main Street in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Under the guidance of the university’s esteemed faculty, who are all successful professionals in their respective fields, students from the music, theatre, dance, art, and creative writing programs will come together to provide an impressive array of artistic enrichment and enjoyment. The event will feature performances by CU choirs, bands, dancers, color guards, actors and readings by creative writing students.

“We are very excited to host this wonderful event,” said John Ray, Program Director and Assistant Professor of Voice in the Department of Music at Cumberland University. “This Arts Extravaganza is a testament to our students’ combined skills and talents. It will be a night filled with artistic excellence and entertainment.”

The Arts Extravaganza will also offer an opportunity for the public to view student artist creations on display. Doors will open 45 minutes before each show, allowing ample time for attendees to appreciate the remarkable artwork produced by Cumberland University’s talented students.

In addition to the performances and art exhibition, a silent auction will be held during the event. The funds raised from the auction will support the university’s arts programs, ensuring that future students continue to have access to exceptional arts education.

“We encourage the public, our alumni, faculty, and student body to join us in supporting the arts at Cumberland,” added John Ray. “By attending the Arts Extravaganza and participating in the silent auction, you are directly contributing to the growth and success of our arts programs.”

Prices are set at $20 for the public, $10 for faculty and staff, and $5 for students. Tickets for the Arts Extravaganza are available for advance purchase at https://cumberlanduniversity.givevirtuous.org/Event/2024-cu-arts-extravaganza.
