Cumberland University Announces Decision for No Tuition Increase for 2024-2025 Academic Year

Citing a period of uncertainty and financial strain for many navigating the college search process, Cumberland University has announced that it will not raise tuition costs for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year.

“At Cumberland University, we recognize the concerns and apprehension that students and families are facing,” said Cumberland University President Dr. Paul C. Stumb. “We have always been dedicated to ensuring education is affordable and accessible, and we aim to alleviate some of the financial strain during these challenging times.”

Stumb said the university’s decision is “partially in response to the obstacles and delays experienced by families and universities nationwide due to the Department of Education’s initiative to streamline the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).”

The simplified FAFSA process, intended to facilitate financial aid applications for students and families, Stumb explained has “unfortunately” led to delayed processing and various technical issues, preventing many from providing complete financial aid packages to prospective students and families.

“Combined with escalating inflation costs, it’s understandable why prospective students and their families may be feeling anxious about college expenses and enrollment this year. While most colleges and universities are planning to raise tuition by the standard 2-10 percent, Cumberland University is taking a different approach, one focused on removing barriers for future students,” said Vice President for Enrollment Reggie Blair.

By maintaining unchanged tuition costs, Blair said, “the university aims to instill confidence in students and families, ensuring that a quality education remains within reach.”

Cumberland University encourages prospective students to deliberate their college decisions carefully and extends assistance in any way possible. For more information about Cumberland University and its commitment to affordability, visit
