Rick and Necole Bell of Lebanon have been named chairpersons for Cumberland University’s Phoenix Ball 2017.
Rick Bell is an instructor of history at Cumberland University as well as a Lebanon city councilman. He and his brother also are alumni of CU. His father, Charles Bell, is a former trustee of the University. Necole Bell is the owner of Beauty Boutique, a salon, spa, and clothing boutique in Lebanon.
“Cumberland is important to our family. It laid the educational foundation for my brother and me, and it has provided me with the opportunity to do what I love — teach young people and prepare them for their lives ahead. That is what Cumberland did for us, and that is what we want Cumberland to continue to do into the future,” said Rick Bell.
The annual black-tie gala will take place at its traditional time, which is the first Saturday in June. In 2017, the date will be June 3. The Bells, along with a group of energetic volunteers will plan and execute the entire event.
“Being involved with Cumberland is important not just because my husband has been with the University teaching for 15 years, but because it’s a place that will be here long after we are gone. It’s important to me that our family makes a difference in our community. One of the best ways I can think of is helping to raise money so young people have the opportunity to attend Cumberland and receive a great education,” said Necole Bell.
