Cumberland University Announces Community Health Fair to be Held Sept. 23

Nursing student administers COVID-19 vaccine

Cumberland University and the Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions announced a Community Health Fair will be held on Sept. 23 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m on the Memorial Hall Lawn. This free event is the first of its kind to be held at Cumberland and will be open to the public.

The Community Health Fair will include dozens of exhibits and booths focused on all aspects of clinical care, healthy behaviors, nutrition, exercise and medical screenings. The event will also provide opportunities to receive flu shots, COVID-19 vaccinations, or to donate blood to the Red Cross.

This event is coordinated by Cumberland Assistant Professor of Nursing Dr. Marcia Barnes and Cumberland Alumna and Executive Director of Charis Health Lauren Smith.

“We have been overwhelmed by the positive responses we have received from the local health care and wellness community to participate in this event,” said Barnes. “Based on the positive response we’ve received, we hope to make this into an annual event.”

In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
