Patricia Coots has been an Art Educator at Southside Elementary in Lebanon TN for 19 years, creating and executing curriculum plans to meet the needs of a diverse range of grade level abilities. Her dedication to her profession are exhibited by her continued desire to learn, service to her school through theater art production and community and national art projects.
Patricia’s passion for Art Education started years before earning her teaching degree. Interrupting her pursuit to obtain her degree to raise her children, Patricia worked as a Special Education teacher aide, and taught after-school art lessons for elementary students. Once her children were older, she made her dream a reality and earned her Elementary Education Degree at Cumberland University.
Patricia was honored by being chosen to become a professional gilder and work with renowned artist and sculptor, Alan LeQuire, on the Athena gilding project at the Parthenon in Nashville.
In the past three years Patricia has served her alma mater, Cumberland University, as an adjunct Professor in the Art Education. She has mentored as a cooperating teacher for students pursuing art education from colleges in the Middle Tennessee area.
Patricia has dedicated her life to teaching and the appreciation of the Arts. She has supported and inspired her peers and students in the classroom and beyond.
