Marissa Cantrell enters her second year as an assistant athletic trainer at Cumberland University in 2022-23. Cantrell will provide care for Football, Cheerleading, Dance, and Marching Band.
Before arriving to Cumberland, Cantrell gained valuable experience while completing internships at Augustana University and Mount Marty College. During her time as an Augustana football athletic training intern, she covered fall practice, off-season lifting, and spring football.
While at Augustana, she also led an ACL/LCL post-op rehabilitation, Glenoid Labrum post-op rehabilitation, and multiple ankle, hamstring, and back rehabs. All of her rehabs included a post-op progression from a micro-discectomy.
Cantrell earned her bachelor’s degree of Arts in Exercise Wellness from Mount Marty College in 2018. During her time at Mount Marty, she worked with athletes using modalities and rehabilitation techniques with the supervision of certified athletic trainers.
Cantrell obtained her Master’s degree of Science in Athletic Training from Augustana University in 2021. She is also a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
