Selected to join the full time faculty of Jeanette C. Rudy School of Nursing in Fall 2017, Dr. Kayla Cross is an assistant professor and the course coordinator for Nursing in Family and Child Care. Prior to this position, Dr. Cross worked as an adjunct clinical instructor in the course at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Cross received her Doctor of Nursing Practice in December 2015 at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is also a Cumberland University alumna receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009.
Dr. Cross has been practicing specifically in pediatrics for the past 8 years with primary emphasis in surgery, trauma, & adolescent medicine in an inpatient setting. Her role as a registered nurse has led to research interests in pediatric spina bifida care in the primary and acute care settings.
Nationally certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as a certified pediatric nurse, Dr. Cross maintains this credential along with memberships in American/Tennessee Nurses Associations and the Society of Pediatric Nurses.
