Michael earned his BFA at the Memphis College of Art and his MFA at Yale University School of Art, with majors in painting and printmaking. After leaving a long career as an architect in New York City and Nashville, he rededicated himself to painting, drawing, and teaching painting, drawing, and art history. His paintings are intimate depictions of the landscape of southeast Nashville and Williamson County. In addition to the landscape, Michael’s subjects include figurative and portraiture, still life, interiors, and cityscapes.
Michael is represented by Bennett Galley in Nashville, TN. When not teaching, spending time with his family, or working in his studio, he is playing grueling games of competitive badminton.
