Dr. H. Edward (Eddie) Lovin began at Cumberland University in fall of 2010 as the Director of Residence Life, adding Greek Life and Orientation over the next several years. In the fall of 2015, Dr. Lovin assumed the role of Executive Director of Enrollment Services. Within the Enrollment Services Division, Dr. Lovin oversees all aspects of admissions, financial aid, and recruitment activities for the University. Prior to arriving at Cumberland, Dr. Lovin served as a Residence Life Coordinator for five years at Maryville College, where he served as chair of the Staff Council in his final two years. In addition to his residence life and enrollment experience, Dr. Lovin has experience in academic advising for athletics from the University of Mississippi, having advised several top NFL draft prospects and free agents during their college days.
Dr. Lovin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education and Student Personnel from the University of Mississippi. In the fall of 2016 Dr. Lovin graduated from Cumberland University with a Masters of Business Administration degree. Dr. Lovin earned his Doctorate of Educational Leadership, with a focus on Higher Education from Tennessee State University in the spring of 2020. Dr. Lovin’s dissertation was titled “A Comparative Analysis of Self-Reported Consequences of Alcohol Use in Greek-Affiliated and Non-Affiliated Traditional-Age Students in Tennessee.” Dr. Lovin was honored to have Dr. Paul Stumb, President of Cumberland University, serve on the dissertation committee.
Dr. Lovin and his wife, Brandi, have been married since October 2013. They live in Lebanon and can often be seen on campus walking their dog, enjoying the beautiful campus scenery.
