Camille most recently started working as an Associate Registrar in October 2023. Camille is originally from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania but recently moved to Mt. Juliet in May 2022 after living in St. Louis, Missouri for one year.

She started her college career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2017 and later transferred to Juniata College where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Communications with a minor in Psychology upon graduating in 2021. She is also a member of the Lamda Pi Eta National Communication Association Honor Society.

After having a few years of experience in the medical field where she holds a license in chiropractic therapy, Camille decided to change careers and began working here at Cumberland University. She is also working towards her Master’s degree through LSU.

Carole Bucy has been recently named “Distinguished University Professor,” at Cumberland University, after a long career as a history professor at Volunteer State Community College.  She also serves in the honorary position of Davidson County Historian.  She holds degrees in history from Baylor University, George Peabody College, and Vanderbilt University where she earned her Ph.D. in U.S. History.   As a longtime advocate for local and state history, she is a regular speaker on Tennessee and Nashville history in all parts of the state to a variety of organizations and groups.

Carole regularly teaches classes for the public known as “Nashville 101 and 102” and other topics as a way to help local Nashvillians learn and appreciate the city’s history. During the COVID pandemic, she taught Tennessee 101 and 102, for the Tennessee Historical Society by Zoom.  More than 400 people took these classes, not only from Tennessee, but also from 45 of the 50 states, and 4 countries.   In October 2017, she travelled to Magdeburg, Germany with a Nashville Sister Cities delegation and gave a talk there on Nashville history.  She regularly teaches for Vanderbilt’s Osher Life-long Learning program and has just completed a six-week course for this program on the 1930s in the United States and Tennessee.

She conducts teacher workshops on the incorporation of Tennessee history into existing U.S. history courses and is a frequent speaker across the state on a variety of historical subjects. She is the author of the textbook used in 4th and 5th Social Studies classes in Metro Schools as well as other districts across the state.  She serves on the Advisory Board of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly. She is considered the foremost authority on the history of how Nashville and Davidson County consolidated their governments to create Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County.  This was among the earlies city-county consolidation sin the United States.

Dr. Bucy was the lead researcher for the Nashville Public Library’s Votes for Women Room, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Tennessee ratification of the 19th Amendment that gave across the United States the right to vote, as well as a consultant for the Tennessee State Museum’s Woman Suffrage Exhibit which opened in July. She is also featured on “By One Vote”, Nashville Public Television’s documentary about Tennessee’s ratification of the 19th amendment, which had distribution to public television stations across the country.

Mark Hanshaw is Associate Provost and General Counsel for Cumberland University. Hanshaw has a broad background in serving and supporting higher education institutions. Hanshaw possesses a background in both law and higher education administration. Previously, Dr. Hanshaw served on the Higher Education Team at the national law firm of Steptoe & Johnson.  He additionally led the network of Methodist higher education institutions located across the U.S.

Hanshaw served as the Dean of the School of Arts & Letters at Texas Wesleyan University, in Fort Worth, and has been a part of the teaching faculties of several institutions. As a part of his work within the higher education arena, Hanshaw has led in the establishment of both domestic and global collaborative academic programs and has guided efforts aimed at both program expansion and retention. While at Texas Wesleyan, he led both campus internationalization efforts and online program expansion.

Hanshaw holds a Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University, with emphasis in Comparative Ethics.  He also holds a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law and Master’s degrees from the University of Manchester, in the U.K., and Texas Christian University.  He is the author of the text From East to West: A Comparative Study of the World’s Great Religions, as well as a variety of other texts and academic articles.

He was the recipient of the Texas Wesleyan Board of Trustees Award for Scholarship, in addition to other teaching and research awards.  He is a former Rotary International Fellow, having studied at the University of Manchester, and Fulbright-Hays Scholar, having conducted research in India. He has led numerous student travel-study programs, predominantly in South Asia, and was selected to lead an international peace delegation in India, funded by the Rotary International Foundation.

Hanshaw has traveled widely, having visited or lived in more than 80 countries around the globe.   He has led study abroad programs in India, Nepal, Guatemala, Cambodia, Thailand, Turkey and Greece.  In addition to his scholarly interests, he is a runner, an amateur photographer and, most importantly, a dad to both human and K-9 “kids.” He is married and lives in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Larry Vaughan graduated with a BBA from Middle Tennessee State University in 1981 and worked in public accounting for 15 years.  In October 1996 he became the Director of Financial Aid at Cumberland University.  In 2006 he turned financial aid over to Beatrice LaChance and he helped create the Office of Institutional Research.

Lori Schock grew up in the Southeastern portion of Michigan.  She attended Moody Bible Institute, in Chicago, IL, where she earned a degree in Christian Education/Music.  She continued to Judson University in Elgin, IL, where she received a degree in Elementary Education.  Before employment with Cumberland in 2016, she was employed as a classroom teacher with Lebanon Special School District and McClain Christian Academy.

Rusty has been at Cumberland University since November 2011 serving as the Vice President for Advancement and later in his current role as Executive Director of Community Relations & External Affairs. He is a seasoned veteran with almost 40 years of experience working in the non-profit sector.

In his current role, Rusty is responsible for the many of the major events held by Cumberland such as the Phoenix Ball, Notes for Nurses, and Founders’ Day celebration. He also serves as the representative for Cumberland University at many local events in the community. 

Prior to coming to Cumberland, Rusty served as president of the Phi Delta Theta Foundation headquartered in Oxford, Ohio.

Rusty is active with the Lebanon Rotary Club having held the offices of President and Treasurer. He and his wife Kathy belong to the First United Methodist Church. He is an avid racquetball player and fisherman.

Tammi Pavan is the University Registrar and has been employed by Cumberland since July of 2009.  Prior to coming to Cumberland she served as the Registrar for Ohio Valley University.  

Mrs. Pavan earned an Associate of Arts degree from Northeastern Christian Junior College, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Ohio Valley University.  Previous to working in Higher Education she worked in the financial services industry as a Supervisor of Broker Dealer Operations and Wire Trade Specialist holding a series 7 and 24 License.

Dr. C. William (Bill) McKee is currently Cumberland University’s Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor of Education and Public Service Management. He has served the institution in a number of other administrative posts including Executive Vice President and Dean. Additionally, he was previously an administrator at Georgia Southwestern State University.

A Nashville native, Dr. McKee graduated from the University School of Nashville (USN) and then earned the B.S. in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the M.Ed. in Counseling and Student Personnel from Auburn University, and the Ed.D. in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Carnegie-Mellon University Academic Leadership Institute, the American Council of Education/National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Stevens Institute on Leadership and Administration, as well as the University of Georgia Leadership Institute.

Believing that part of the responsibility of a great University is to impact the community, Dr. McKee practices as well as teaches public service management. He devotes many hours of volunteer service to provide leadership in a variety of governmental and not-for-profit agencies and organizations in middle Tennessee and beyond including Trustee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commissioner on Colleges, Member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Commissioner of the Nashville and Davidson County Historical Commission, Chair of the 15th Judicial District Child Advocacy Board, President of the Tennessee College Association, and Chair of the Buchanan Log House Historical Site. Additionally, Dr. McKee is a member of the Lebanon Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.

His research interests include studies on prominent Tennessee historical figures, and current issues in state and local government. His involvement in the campus community includes advising Alpha Lambda Delta (the freshman honor society) and Omicron Delta Kappa (the national leadership honor society).

Current teaching responsibilities for Dr. McKee include graduate courses in public service such as community issues, professional communications, and public policy.

Dr. McKee regularly serves as a consultant to institutions of higher education, is a workshop leader, and presenter at both local and regional conferences.

Since 2006, Dr. Sheridan Henson has served across campus in administrative support, graduate admissions, and academic support services.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (B.A. ’04) from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science in Public Service Management (M.S. ’09) from Cumberland University, and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D. ’16) from Trevecca Nazarene University. Currently, Dr. Henson oversees the curriculum and teaches in the first-year experience course known as Foundations of Scholarship and Learning (FSL) taught by a cadre of over 20 faculty members from multiple disciplines. At the graduate level, Dr. Henson has the privilege to teach Organizational Behavior, Conflict Resolution, and Leadership in the Master of Public Service Management program.

As a university administrator and campus leader, Dr. Henson directs Academic Support which contains the Offices of Student Success, Career Services and Internships, the Chaplain, and the Writing Center. He is also a member of the General Education Committee, the Senior Academic Leadership Team, the Deans Council, and the University Library and Educational Resources Committee. During the 2020 SACS-COC institutional decennial affirmation process, Dr. Henson served on the institutional standards core writing team.

In his role as a catalyst for student social integration, Dr. Henson is the faculty advisor for the Theta Prime Chapter of The Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the Circle Coordinator of the Cumberland Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, and the advisor for the Tennessee Lambda Chapter of Alpha Chi.

As Circle Coordinator for the Cumberland Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, Dr. Henson has overseen circle standards garnering multiple circle recognitions including the Presidential Award of Excellence. In 2021, Dr. Henson was named the recipient of the Robert L. Morlan and Robert Bishop Outstanding Circle Officer Award, and in 2022, Dr. Henson was elected by a majority of Circle Advisors and Coordinators across the nation to serve as the Faculty/Staff Trustee of Omicron Delta Kappa’s Board of Trust and Chair-elect of the Mission Committee.

Dr. Sheridan and Rachel Henson reside in Wilson County with their son, Finn, and daughter, Ellie. The Henson family are members of the Lebanon First United Methodist Church where Rachel sings in the choir and Sheridan serves as Cub scout Pack 643’s Cubmaster. Dr. Henson is also a member of American Legion Post 15 and a prior service Marine.
