Cumberland Announces Event in Cincinnati to Honor Coach Woody Hunt

Cumberland University announced today that newly retired baseball coach Woody Hunt will throw out the first pitch at the Cincinnati Reds game on Tuesday, June 29. Cumberland is planning a pre-game reception in Cincinnati, Ohio for alumni, faculty, staff, community members and friends of the university. 

The Cincinnati Reds announced that Coach Woody Hunt will be throwing out the first pitch in the game versus the San Diego Padres on Tues., June 29 at 7:10 p.m. as well as be honored as the hometown hero for his service in the Marines. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the first pitch will be pre-recorded at another location and displayed on screen prior to the start of the game. 

Cumberland is inviting all alumni, faculty, staff, community members and friends of the university to attend the pre-game reception at the Graduate Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio beginning at 3:00 p.m. 

Attendees can purchase tickets to the game by calling John Rieder at 513-765-7318 and a room block has been reserved at the Graduate Hotel, which can be booked here

Transportation is available for attendees from the Cumberland campus to the Graduate Hotel and back. 

Coach Woody Hunt announced his retirement in January of this year after 43 years at Cumberland University and 41 seasons as the university’s head baseball coach.
