Annual Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament Presented by Cumberland University Raises Nearly $60,000 for Student Scholarships

Cumberland University announced today that its annual Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament raised nearly $60,000 for student scholarships as well as community giving.

The Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation was established in 2014 by the McChurch family in memory of their son, Tyler, who lost his life in a tragic car accident at the age of 29. In its fifth year, the annual tournament has raised and awarded over $80,000 to student scholarships at Cumberland, $50,000 for Wilson County Youth Football programs, and $15,000 for community giving.

The 5th annual tournament was held June 17 at the Five Oaks Golf & Country Club with 148 golfers participating.

Dan McChurch, Tyler’s father and founder of the Tyler McChurch Memorial Foundation, is excited to be able to honor his son with this tournament each year.

“The golf tournament continues to grow each year and I’m grateful to everyone who supported this year’s event,” said McChurch. “Our family is grateful to have the ability to honor Tyler’s legacy in a way that also gives back to the great community of Wilson County.”

In addition to awarding scholarships to Cumberland University students, the foundation also supports youth sports programs throughout Wilson County.
