Scholarships & Financial Aid

Cumberland Promise

Community college graduates and transfers are eligible for a $6,000 grant, regardless of achievement level or chosen field of study.

For students who graduate with a University-parallel degree from a community college in Tennessee, the student may be eligible for the "Cumberland Promise", depending upon his or her chosen field of study. This scholarship is based upon major, community college graduation GPA, and level of need.

The sizes of the available awards are as follows:

Cumulative GPA

It is the program underwriters’ intention to provide financial aid to those successful students who need it most. Financial need, therefore, will be a consideration in determining the amount of any award.

Application for these awards is automatic when an eligible community college graduate (or prospective graduate) applies to Cumberland University and completes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards will be made monthly, beginning in February of 2016 and continuing until the available financing is exhausted.

Tennessee Transfer Pathway

The Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP) system is a statewide initiative designed to help community college students make a smooth transition into university degree programs.  Students at state community colleges can choose from a number of participating AA or AS degrees and take the specific courses listed for that program.  After completing the AA or AS degree, students can transfer to Cumberland University and be assured all credits will transfer into the corresponding 4-year program at the university.  This guarantee allows students to stay on track for graduation while being able to stay at a local community college for the first two years of school.
