Cumberland Hosts Nashville Symphony for the 30th Year

Cumberland University will host the Nashville Symphony Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. on Memorial Hall lawn for its annual summer concert. This year’s performance marks the 30th year that the Nashville Symphony has performed on the Cumberland campus. All are invited to attend, and admission to the concert is free.

The Grammy Award-winning orchestra will play several classical and popular music selections. Enrico Lopez-Yañez will serve as the concert’s conductor. Additionally, the Nashville Symphony announced “The Incredibles” theme will be performed after being voted as this year’s fan favorite encore selection.

Pre-concert activities, including Glen Martin Jazz Piano and Nashville Symphony Instrument Petting Zoo, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Two Fat Men Ice Cream Company, Blue Moon BBQ, Psalmbird, and Nothing Bundt Cakes will be on campus selling food for purchase throughout the evening. Attendees may bring their own food and drink items and are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors in the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.

The concert on the Cumberland campus is one of seven taking place on parkways and green spaces throughout Middle Tennessee for the Nashville Symphony Community Concert series. Cumberland is proud to bring the ever-talented group to the Lebanon community.

Local event sponsors include: The City of Lebanon – Mayor Bernie Ash, Wilson Bank & Trust, The Adams Family Foundation, Lebanon Breakfast Rotary Club, Lebanon Noon Rotary Club, the Greater Nashville Regional Council, Wilson County and the Tennessee Arts Commission.
