Cumberland receives $100,000 gift to establish Tom H. Proctor Memorial Scholarship

Cumberland University received $100,000 from the Estate of Carrie Elizabeth Proctor.

The bequest will establish the Tom H. Proctor Memorial Scholarship Fund. In honor of Ms. Proctor’s father, who had aspired to attend Cumberland but was was not afforded the opportunity. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time Cumberland student that displays a well-rounded academic and extracurricular background, demonstrates a financial need to further his or her higher education, is a person of high moral character, and maintains a grade point average of 3.0.

“Ms. Proctor’s gift is incredibly special to the Cumberland family. Now, much like Tom Proctor, an aspiring and well-deserving student will have the ability to attend our university with less of a financial burden,” Vice President for Advancement Scott Lawrence said. “We are thrilled to be able to provide our students a new opportunity and to honor Ms. Proctor’s father with the Tom H. Proctor Memorial Scholarship.”
