The Working Adult Business Degree Completion (WABDC) Program at CU is designed for adults age 23 and above to complete the requirements to earn an accredited Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. Depending on the number and type of college credits already earned and practical work and/or military experience, a prospective student may complete the degree requirements in as little one year.
While our programs are relevant for a wide array of business and industries, we are perhaps best suited for the following:
1. Individuals who want to marry the following skill sets: Traditional business skills (accounting, marketing, management, …) with the requisite soft skills that every business owner wants today (communication, teamwork, leadership), and with the technology skills (CIS, MIS, technology management) that are essential to many businesses today. Our programs prepare graduates who are bilingual in both “business” and in “technology.”
2. Both the service and manufacturing sectors.
3. Some specific industries in which we believe prospective students exist include: Banking, Real Estate, Insurance, the military.
Successful candidates will enter the program with either an Associate Degree (AA, AS, …) or be in a position to earn the equivalent of an associate degree via a combination of completed college coursework, experiential credit, and CLEP (or other comparable) testing. Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in the following three areas/courses:
1. Business Fundamentals (BUA -101)
2. Business Communication (BUA 251)
3. The Microsoft Office Suite (CIS-170)
Proficiency may be determined by the student's portfolio (college or experiential credit) or testing scores (CLEP) as mentioned above. In addition to the above requirements, candidates will take an initial 2 hour course (ONL 212) Introduction to On-Line learning. Candidates must then complete 13 required core business courses (39 hours) and 4 elective courses (12 hours) in one of several tracks or concentrations. A minimum of 2 semesters of coursework at CU will be required, but students may apply for additional experiential credit and/or testing credit for up to 30 total credit hours. In the absence of experiential or testing credit, the final 54 hours of required core and elective courses can be completed in as little as 4.5 semesters, by taking 2 courses in each of 8 consecutive 8-week sessions.
