School of Music and the Arts

Renowned musician Rod McGaha, a member of CU's Cosmic Faculty, performs during the University's 'Jazz & Jambalaya' celebration.
The School of Music and the Arts provides students with courses that comprise the heart of a Liberal Arts education, many of which are required to complete the General Education Core (GEC). Specific subject areas in the humanities in this division are English, foreign language, philosophy/religion, and speech.

Fine Arts subject areas include: art, dance, instrumental music, vocal music, and theatre. The goal is to help students become better written and oral communicators; develop critical thinking and reading skills; appreciate the great works of literature, philosophy and the arts; prepare for professional careers and graduate schools; and provide a source of enrichment for lifelong contemplation and learning. The CU School of Music and the Arts is proud to be the home of the Cosmic Jazz Faculty Ensemble -- a group of award-winning musicians/faculty members!
