The following documents are designed to help faculty with their Course Assessment Design Sheets (CADS). CADS are to be created for each course and updated each semester. CADS should be submitted to your program head at the beginning of the semester. At the end of the semester, complete the CADS with information on your students' performance toward the objectives you identified at the beginning of the semester and submit to your program head. (Avoid the "race to the bottom" effect: creating outcomes that are too easily reached and thus create 100% attainment scores.)
  1. The Four W's of SLOs provides a brief introduction to Student Learning Objectives.
  2. The Assessing and SLOs document provides more information on SLOs.
  3. The course assessment worksheet helps you identify what your objectives are and how you will measure them.
  4. The template for the CADS is the sheet you use for creating and updating the document.
  5. A list of all of the candidate proficiencies which may be used as SLOs is found here.
Please name your CADS with your Course Number, Course Title, and date (For Example: ED201 Education as a Profession, Spring 2010).
