A Practica Class is included to provide "on site" practical experience to assist the student in determining a career (should be taken the junior year). Each class offers the opportunity to learn through service at an agency, present the findings to the class, and to learn the essentials to prepare for a career in each class experience. The student will then decide on one of 3 tracks.
The Recreation Administration major offers three tracks. Each track is uniquely designed with 27 hours of coursework both in and outside the HPER Department. Each also has 6 hours of activity classes to help provide "hands on" skills (i.e., golf, swimming, backpacking, team building to name a few). These are designed to offer more specialized training. This program will culminate in an Internship (9 hours).
The goal of this track is to prepare students for leadership opportunities and careers in a variety of recreation and leisure services in management of programs, facilities, and services. This track can lead to job opportunities in:

- Youth at Risk (outdoor settings)
- Adventure Business (outfitters, guided tours)

The student will choose an agency in conjunction with the advisor that is closely related to his/her career aspirations. This 400-hour work experience is directed and evaluated by the faculty advisor with appropriate supervision and by an on-site professional. This senior class should be taken in either the last semester or summer of the graduating year. This "on-the-job" experience will be a key component in the student's future career preparation.
