Psi Chi is the National Honors Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS).
Unlike the Psychology club, which is open to everyone, becoming a member of Psi Chi requires the student to meet some minimum requirements which are listed below. Students admitted to Psi Chi will receive an honorary certificate documenting their accomplishment and blue and gold cords to wear at graduation. The department also has an annual banquet to honor Psi Chi inductees, their families, and other award winners. If you're interested in applying for membership in Psi Chi please feel free to contact the faculty advisor, Connie Wright.
