The AEC is your place for Academic Enrichment. Located in room 131 of Labry Hall, the AEC is where CU students can get academic assistance through peer tutoring and writing assistance. We also offer testing services for the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) and the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Visit the AEC to get assistance with any of your classes. We can arrange for you to meet with a faculty member in any subject or get you a peer tutor for private study sessions. In addition to tutoring, the AEC offers walk-in writing assistance with a faculty-approved English tutor, a qualified Graduate Assistant, or the Center’s Coordinator. The AEC is here to provide you with the tools necessary to be successful, whether that means helping you pass your hardest class or turning a B into an A!

To schedule an appointment to take the MAT or CLEP, please email the Coordinator, Sheridan Henson at shenson@cumberland.edu. The test is offered Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, by appointment.

For the MAT: $65 non-refundable fee payable by cash or check at time of testing to Cumberland University. To pay by credit card, testers must make arrangements with the university business office at least one day BEFORE testing time. The MAT is a computer-based, one-hour test, and testers need to only bring photo identification. For the CLEP: $77 non-refundable fee payable only by check or credit card at time of testing to CLEP. CLEP tests are computer-based, one-and-one-half-hour tests, and testers need to only bring photo identification. For details on test specifics, please visit CLEP’s website at clep.collegeboard.org. All prospective testers are strongly encouraged to contact the university registrar’s office in order to confirm the acceptance of specific CLEP credits.
