CU Student Conduct Process

CU Student Conduct Process

All disciplinary matters will be addressed by the Office of the Dean of Students, the Cumberland University Student Conduct Committee, or the Office of Residence Life.  Students may choose to have their case heard by either the appropriate campus administrator or the CUSCC.  The Dean of Students may refer some cases directly to the CUSCC for case adjudication.  In the event that the Dean of Students is unavailable to initiate the adjudication process in a timely manner and a case must be adjudicated immediately to protect the safety and welfare of the campus, the Dean of Students may appoint an alternate university administrator to initiate the adjudication process.

Students will receive a formal charge letter following the receipt of an incident report.  During an initial meeting with the Dean of Students or the Director of Residence Life, students may elect to either have their case heard by the appropriate campus administrator or the CUSCC.   The CUSCC will meet as needed to discuss campus and student related issues and offenses that a student requests the Conduct Committee to hear.  Appeals may be filed in writing to the Executive Vice President. Final appeals may be filed in writing to the University President.
