Residence Halls: Mary White Hall

This residence hall is for female freshman students. Mary White is a traditional-style residence hall with one bathroom on each hallway. There is a main entrance that opens up to a common lobby for the entire building. The lobby is equipped with a couch, loveseat, a big-screen TV and a table and chairs for studying, eating, games, etc. This residence hall is located on the east side of the main campus.

 

Mary White Hall: Residence Life Staff

Mary White Hall has a Resident Director who is responsible for the overall operation of the residence hall. She lives in the apartment attached to the residence hall and is accessible at all times of the day whether by e-mail, phone or knocking on her door. To help support her, there is also one Resident Advisor living on each hallway for a total of four Resident Advisors. This staff is intended to be a resource for residents with any concerns including maintenance requests, roommate conflicts, personal issues, academic support, health and safety concerns, etc. Please take advantage of this support available to you through the Residence Life staff in your building.

 
Mary White Residence Life Team

Resident Director - Vanessa N. Waite
Vanessa Waite is the resident director for Mary White Hall. She came to Cumberland from Trinidad & Tobago, and this is her third year with the Residence Life Team -- her second year as resident director of the girls' freshman dorm. Vanessa received her bachelors degree in psychology from CU and is in the process of obtaining her master of arts in education. As an undergrad, she was a member and co-captain of the CU volleyball team and the secretary of Divas with a Purpose. Vanessa is married to CU Football Coach Brian Waite, and they have a baby boy named Xarian Waite. In her spare time, she likes to read, watch movies and play with her son.

Resident Advisor - Katy Lassiter
Katy is a junior from White House, Tenn. This is her first year as a member of the Residence Life Team. Katy is a music education/performance major and is an active member of the University Choir and pre-teaching programs. She has also been involved in NHS, Honor Roll and church. Some of her other interests include music, reading, volunteering and teaching music to under-privileged children.

Resident Advisor - Heather Tanner
Heather came to us from McMinnville, Tenn. This is her first year as a Resident Advisor. She is a sophomore and plans to earn her degree in nursing. Heather is an active member of HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) and Alpha Omicron Pi, where she's held the positions of recruiter, reporter, Pan-Hellenic coordinator and historian. In her free time, Heather enjoys reading and dancing. Her bubbly personality has been a great asset to our team.

Resident Advisor - Jessica Reston
Jessica came to us this fall from Dothan, Alabama, and she is a first-year Resident Advisor. This, however, has not hampered her enthusiasm for the program in any way -- her friendly and open-minded attitude has been nothing but a plus for our team, and we're happy to welcome her. Jessica is a history/geography/education major and a team manager for men's basketball. She has recently joined Divas with a Purpose and loves watching football, shopping and reading in her spare time.

Resident Advisor - Jahnee Caples
Jahnee is a senior at CU from Antioch, Tenn. She is a criminal justice/public administration major and English minor. Jahnee plans to attend law school next fall. She is a member and co-founder of Divas with a Purpose. She is also a member of the Marching - Concert Band, Student Activities Board, FOCUS, Alpha Lambda Delta and Women's Council. In her spare time, Jahnee likes to play volleyball, Clue and watch football. This is her first year as a member of the Residence Life Team, and she has been a welcomed addition.
