  • Dr. Mark Cheathem, Professor of History at Cumberland, recently spoke about his book Andrew Jackson, Southerner at the Library of Congress and is now available on C-Span.  His book is a reassessment of President Jackson as a man who owned over 200 hundred slaves, married into an exclusive social order in Nashville, and headed a local militia; all qualifications for success in 19th century Southern culture.
