Focus student art show opens April 7

Heydel Fine Arts Center

The art department at Cumberland University will host its annual Focus student art show in the Adams Gallery at the Heydel Fine Arts Center beginning April 7 at 4 p.m., followed by an award ceremony at 4:30 p.m. The show will run through April 26.

The work of more than 30 students will be on display. The juror for the show will be Todd Walker, who began his art career at Lambuth University, and is a featured speaker and advisor on contemporary fine arts at universities, museums and galleries. A Colorado resident, he is a founding member of the American Alliance of Museums, an art collector, fine art consultant and consultant to Phillips Auction House, the world’s third biggest auctioneer of international contemporary works in New York and London.

“This will be our biggest and best show ever. We have exceptional student work and we are proud to show their accomplishments,” said Ted Rose, art department chairman.

The Focus student art show is free and open to the public Monday-Friday,  9 a.m.-5 p.m.
