Cumberland adding archery, hires Hudson as head coach
Cumberland University Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced the addition of archery to the list of sports offered by the institution for the 2017-18 academic year and the hiring of Mt. Juliet resident Mike Hudson as the coach for the co-ed team.
Hudson is a Level 4 certified archery instructor trained by US Olympic coach Kisik Lee as well as USA Archery Development coaches Ginger Hopwood and Tim Strickland. He owns and operates H lazy H Archery in Mt. Juliet, teaching archery skills to all levels and ages.
He has been involved with the sport for more than 25 years, pioneering archery programs with the YMCA and the Tennessee School for the Blind as well as corporate and group outings that focused in the areas of team building, problem solving, communication and overcoming interpersonal challenges.
”Archery is a growing collegiate sport and I think we have found a tremendous coach and instructor to start the program in Mike Hudson,” Pavan said. “He has the experience and the facilities to help Cumberland recruit quality student-athletes to our University.”
