Cumberland University has received a generous donation from the Tyler McChurch Memorial Golf Tournament.

Tyler was a standout student athlete for the Bulldog football team and graduated from CU with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2007. He tragically lost his life in a car accident in 2013 at the age of 29.

The inaugural golf tournament, thanks to the efforts of the McChurch family, tournament committee, sponsors, golfers and "Friends of Tyler", raised $40,470.98. The donation will assist Wilson County high school graduates who attend Cumberland University with a special emphasis on student athletes who play football. The fund also helps support youth football programs in Wilson County that help develop athletes in the areas of character, skill and leadership and the Cumberland University Athletic program.

The check presentation represents proceeds from the Tyler McChurch Memorial Golf Tournament which was held May 18.
