Baird Trust Awards Scholarships to Students

Fifteen Cumberland University students are beneficiaries of a scholarship made possible by the Baird Trust, a fund established by the late Mr. William C. Baird in memory of his wife, Alma, and his mother, Fannie.

The recipients were recognized during a ceremony on campus Thursday afternoon where they were able to meet members of the committee who oversee the fund’s distribution.

The student recipients are: Joshua Bates, a Freshman majoring in Business Administration from Mt. Juliet; Hannah Bloom, a Sophomore majoring in Nursing from Mount Juliet; McClain Cannon, a Junior majoring in Management from Lebanon; Kelli Cowan, a Senior majoring in Nursing/Upper Division from Mt. Juliet; Amber Heston, a Freshman majoring in Nursing from Lebanon; Jennifer  Hollis, a Senior majoring in Nursing/Upper Division from Lebanon; Chesaney Jordan, a Senior majoring in Nursing/Upper Division from Lebanon; Shelby Neal, a Freshman majoring in Nursing from Lebanon; Leah Newsome, a Freshman majoring in Accounting from Mt. Juliet, Kathryne Robinson, a Senior majoring in Nursing/Upper Division from Lebanon; Haley Sissom, a Senior majoring in Accounting from Lebanon; Marisa Smallwood, a Senior majoring in Nursing/Upper Division from Lebanon; Ginger Smith, a Senior majoring in Accounting from Lebanon; Jennifer Truong, a Freshman majoring in Accounting from Lebanon; Kaitlyn Woodard, a Sophomore majoring in Nursing from Lebanon.

“The impact of these scholarships is immeasurable,” said Mr. Eddie Pawlawski, Executive Vice President for the University. “These scholarship dollars allow deserving students to obtain their educational goals and objectives.”

 

The Baird Trust underwrites deserving students who are residents of Wilson County and are majoring in either Nursing or Business.

 

“To help these young people be able to pursue their education goals in priceless,” said Mr. Frank Bryant, advisory member of the Baird Trust fund. “The investment we are making in their education benefits not only the students but our community as well.”
