Cumberland University Homecoming Celebration Kicks off this Week

When was the last time you visited Cumberland University?  Can’t recall?  Well its time for you to return to campus, reconnect with old friends and professors, and see what all is happening at Cumberland.  Whether you are an alumnus or a neighbor who just loves the University, there is something to enjoy at this year’s Homecoming festivities. There are many events that have been planned for the week so come and be a part of the excitement.

Tradition - For nearly 175 years, Cumberland University, has celebrated homecoming with pride. Homecoming 2014 will reunite classmates and friends honoring the spirit of Cumberland. This year’s theme, “Come Back to Cumberland,” encourages the University family to return to campus and celebrate!

Unifying - Many events have been planned and specifically designed to bring people together. From the many athletic contests taking place to the Baseball reunion to the Adams Gallery art exhibit just about every member of the community has some kind of connection to Homecoming this year.

Good Cause - With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Department of Athletics and the Division of Student Development are encouraging all fans attending the Homecoming game to wear pink in honor or remembrance of those with cancer. Additional events at tailgating and the game will bring awareness to and highlight other opportunities for cancer related charities such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital. T-shirts will be made available to the public on game day for a minimum $5 donation inside the stadium. Friends and alumni who wish to join Team Cumberland for the St. Jude Give Thanks Walk can visit

During the tailgate prior to the football game, The Office of Greek Affairs will be conducting an Active/Alumni Chili cook-off, with donations being collected to determine the winner and proceeds to be donated to the Cumberland University St. Jude Give Thanks Walk. At halftime, the Homecoming Queen will be given pink roses this year instead of the traditional red roses.
