Cumberland University Patrons' Party Plans Underway

Cumberland University is enthusiastically preparing for its 2014 Patrons' Party. Promising a night of summer fun and festivities to precede Cumberland’s Phoenix Ball, the Patrons’ Party will be held at the beautiful Lebanon home of Brandon and Linlee Allen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5.

Short time Wilson County residents, the Allens are excited new supporters of Cumberland and the Phoenix Ball. Mr. Allen is an engineer and owns Franklin-based Henry Drilling and Pumps, Inc. Mrs. Allen is the owner/operator of Ava Mac Designs, which specializes in personalized gifts and décor. Both are excited and honored to host this year’s pre-Phoenix Ball activities.

“Cumberland has a positive impact on our community and we see it in the finished product. The students coming out of Cumberland are fine young adults and have been well prepared to step into life and face the new challenges of adulthood on their own,” said Mrs. Allen.

“I didn’t grow up in Lebanon, but my parents did and my grandparents have always lived here. I have such fond memories of visiting this town as a child and loved it so much that my husband and I decided to raise our family here. Cumberland is a huge part of Lebanon and therefore I love the opportunity to be involved with this University.”

A college-themed gathering, the Patrons’ Party will feature live music from the world famous Super T and the Tyrone Smith Revue, a wide selection of food, and an opportunity to mix and mingle at the Allen’s riverside home. A relaxed soiree, the event will call for business/fun casual dress.

“We love the idea of remembering your college days by supporting the college in your community, so we’re planning a fun, casual event at our home with a tent in the yard,” said Mrs. Allen. “Mix in great food and friends, a terrific cause, and the best band in the southeast and you’ve got the makings for an awesome party.  We’re so excited to relive some of our best college memories and think that everyone will really enjoy Super T and the Tyrone Smith Revue.”

The Patrons’ Party on June 5 will serve as an enchanting prelude to the 31st annual Phoenix Ball scheduled for June 7. A premier charity event, the Phoenix Ball has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of Cumberland’s deserving students. This year’s gala as well as the Patrons’ Party will directly benefit the University’s athletic programs, which have taken on even greater significance as the University prepares for its move to the NCAA.
