CU Board of Trust elects new Chairman
The Cumberland University Board of Trust has voted to name Trustee Bob McDonald Chairman of the Board. He succeeds Dr. Edward Thackston, who has served since 2007.
McDonald was elected to the Board in 2002. He is President and CEO of CedarStone Bank, an institution he helped visualize.
“I am honored to have been elected by my peers,” said McDonald. “The current trajectory that Cumberland is on is truly exciting, and I am eager to make a contribution toward its future success.”
McDonald has previously served on the Board’s Development Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, and the Presidential Search Committee. He also served as chairperson of the Finance, Investment and Membership Committees.
Also elected as officers are Dr. Bob Vero, CEO of Centerstone Tennessee, as Vice Chairman, and Mr. W. P. Bone III, owner of Wilson County Motors, as Secretary-Treasurer.
Dr. Harvill Eaton, President of the University, expressed his appreciation for the years of service Dr. Thackston gave to the University and how he is looking forward to working with the new leadership.
“Cumberland is a better place because of Dr. Ed Thackston,” said Eaton. “He has provided a vision, guidance, and much encouragement throughout his service, and I am grateful for that. I look forward to Bob’s leadership, and I know he and the other officers will serve the institution well. His experience and leadership in the financial industry will be of particular importance as Cumberland continues its growth in service to the region.”
In addition, the Board voted to recognize Dr. Thackston for his service as Chairman of the Board.
