Knights of Columbus establish Memorial Scholarship at CU
The Knights of Columbus Council 9787 recently established the Chuck Brockman Memorial Scholarship at Cumberland University in memory of one of its members. The inaugural award was made to Cumberland student Sarah Baughan who is studying music. The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic, fraternal organization. Begun in 1882 in New Haven, Conn. by Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney, the Order now has over 1.8 million members and 14,000 councils in more than 10 countries. The Order and its members are well-known for their charitable giving. The local council is affiliated with Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and was formed in 1988.
