VISUAL ART EXHIBITION: "Internally Speaking"

Sarah Huddleston Senior Exhibit

4/12/2012

The Adams Gallery in the June and Bill Heydel Fine Arts Center is pleased to present “Internally Speaking,” a senior show of works by Sarah Huddleston.  The works are crafted from many different mediums and materials, and reflect Huddleston’s progression through the honing of her Studio Art skills, and knowledge of general education courses.   This show is Huddleston’s Senior Exhibit, in fulfillment of the B.F.A. Degree in Studio Art at Cumberland University, Lebanon, TN.

Sarah Huddleston’s show, “Internally Speaking,” is a sequential collection of pieces that show her blossoming from student to artist and critical thinker.  The artwork portrays Huddleston’s knowledge in ceramics, mixed media, painting, drawing, and textile work.  Huddleston’s pieces stem from many roots:  of learning from her teachers both art and general education courses, personal experiences in her life, and religious, political, and social occurrences.

The works presented by Sarah Huddleston are aimed to show not only the benefits of a liberal arts education, but also to point out to others to reexamine their life, and to notice the small things as well as the big.  Huddleston hopes that one thing you take away from her show is to find time to truly evaluate the environment in which you live, and see how everything is holistically connected.

Sarah Huddleston has received awards and honors both scholastically, locally, and regionally, receiving awards such as Cumberland University’s F.O.C.U.S. exhibit Excellence in Painting award as well as Honorable Mention, ADDY® advertisement award in Illustration, and has had works accepted in to the 7-state University of Tennessee Martin’s Artists of the 21st Century competition.  Huddleston graduates May 5, 2012, with a B.F.A. degree in Studio Art.  She hopes to further her knowledge in psychology, and to later get a Masters degree in Art Therapy.
