Cumberland University's Phoenix Players will bring the classic tale of Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his monster to life as they present "Frankenstein" at the June & Bill Heydel Fine Arts Center, November 6-9.

Written by Victor Gialanella and based on the novel by Mary Shelley, the stage production of "Frankenstein" was first presented at the Loretto-Hilton in St. Louis, according to Cumberland Professor of Speech and Theatre Dr. Larry T. Menefee.

"This enduring story offers up plenty of thrills, but it also offers moments of poignant emotion and gripping philosophical insight," Menefee, who serves as director for the Phoenix Players' production, said. "It is as equally moving as it is terrifying."

The Cumberland University production of "Frankenstein" will feature Jack Yatsko as Victor Frankenstein, Nicholas Williams as the Creature, Martin Cooper as Hans Metz, Jerry Shanes as Peter Schmidt, Tara Crawford as William (Wilamina) Frankenstein and Thomas Wilkinson as Alphonse Frankenstein.

"Frankenstein" opens Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Performances are also scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8. A Sunday matinee performance will be presented at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 12. To reserve tickets, please call the Cumberland Box Office at 615.547.1380 or e-mail boxoffice@cumberland.edu.
