The Cumberland University School of Music and the Arts will hold scholarship auditions and art portfolio evaluations on Dec. 5-7. Students may audition or submit portfolios for scholarships in instrumental or vocal/choral music, theatre/drama, dance and visual art.

The School of Music and the Arts at Cumberland University is committed to a performance (creative productivity) approach to the Fine Arts. Though the program is relatively new, its graduates are already making their mark as performers in music, theatre, dance and creative visual arts, as well as educators. If you are, or know of, a high school senior who is seeking a challenging Fine Arts program in an outstanding small, private university atmosphere, Cumberland University's School of Music and the Arts provides that opportunity.

There will be two scholarship audition/evaluation sessions on each of the three days. Students may select an early (9 a.m. until 1 p.m.) session or a late (noon until 4 p.m.) option. Each session will include a "get acquainted" luncheon, a financial aid mini-course and a campus tour -- in addition to the audition/portfolio evaluation. Fine Arts scholarships are available to all qualified students whether or not they major in music, art, theatre or dance.

If a student is unable to attend one of these scholarship sessions or if the driving distance is too great, other audition/portfolio evaluation arrangements can be made.

Cumberland University is located at One Cumberland Square in Lebanon, Tenn. For further information about this opportunity or to arrange other audition/portfolio evaluations, please contact Mr. Sheridan Henson at 615.547.1364 or via e-mail at shenson@cumberland.edu.
