Dance Festival on Tap at CU

Cumberland University's School of Music and the Arts will offer up an entire day's worth of dance classes on Saturday, Nov. 17, as the University's annual Fall Dance Festival returns to the June & Bill Heydel Fine Arts Center.

According to CU Dance Instructor Pam Atha, the day's events will kick off at noon, when a series of six, one-hour courses begins. Registration for the full day's worth of classes is $40 per person or $10 per single class.

The classes offered on Saturday include:

+ Social/Ballroom Dancing (12 until 12:55 p.m.) -- taught by Anthony Angelo
+ Tap (1 until 1:55 p.m.) -- taught by Atha
+ Ballet (2 until 2:55 p.m.) -- taught by CU alumna Lea Dalley, owner of Dancer's Studio in Lebanon
+ Hip-Hop (3 until 3:55 p.m.) -- taught by Billy Ditty, a former member of the Tennessee Dance Theatre and a featured dancer with Martina McBride's Christmas Show
+ Modern Dance (4 until 4:55 p.m.) -- taught by Mindy Congleton, dance instructor at the University School of Nashville
+ Creative Dance (5 until 5:55 p.m.) -- taught by Marci Murphee, owner of Second Story Studio in Nashville and a former member of the Tennessee Dance Theatre

The day's events will conclude with a special evening performance at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public, the evening performance will feature the University School of Nashville Dance group, dancers from Lebanon-based Dancer's Studio and student-dancers from Second Story Studio. The evening show will also include performances by Cumberland University's Phoenix Dancers. CU alumni Jana Jenkins, Laura Marsh and Dalley will perform solo works, as will Ditty.
