Jeff Coffin performs a solo during Cumberland's 2007 Jazz & Jambalaya festival.

UPDATE: The entire Cumberland University community mourns the passing of Mr. LeRoi Moore, a great artist and musician. Mr. Moore passed away on August 19, 2008 at the age of 46. The members of the Dave Matthews Band announced Mr. Moore's passing prior to their August 19 concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The CU family sends its sympathies to Mr. Moore, his family and his fellow bandmates.

A member of Cumberland University's Cosmic Faculty Jazz Ensemble, saxophonist and CU instructor Jeff Coffin will be on tour with the Dave Matthews Band until the end of the 2008 touring year. Coffin is filling in for long-time saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who was injured earlier this summer in an ATV accident on his Virginia Farm.

It will be a busy summer for Coffin, who also plays saxophone for Grammy-award winning Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. In addition to his new role with the Dave Matthews Band, Coffin will continue to perform with the Flecktones for scheduled August concert dates in Boston and Philadelphia. Coffin's new solo album, Mutopia, was released on July 15.
