Bulldogs' Season Ends at National Tournament

On Thursday night in Kansas City, Mo., the Cumberland University Bulldogs (21-12) were eliminated in the first round of the 71st Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championships by defending national champ Oklahoma City University, 81-64.

Noting his team's record was 5-25 just two years ago, CU Head Coach Lonnie Thompson said he and the Bulldogs can hold their heads up high.

"I think we've laid the foundation for the future, and I'm very proud of the guys," Thompson said in a post-game radio interview.

DeCorey Young led Cumberland with 16 points. Jason Langellier finished the night with 13 and Ronnie Braxton added 12.
