The role of the library liaison is to serve as an information resource to the faculty and students within the respective academic programs. The liaison will be the School’s primary contact person in the library, as well as the library’s primary contact person on matters related to the assigned School.
Major liaison responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Being familiar with the library’s holdings that support the curriculum of the assigned academic departments, making recommendations to strengthen collection resources, and receiving suggestions from faculty for collection development.
- Creating subject guides and other materials to assist with locating and using relevant resources.
- Providing instruction services, such as in-class demonstrations and individual research consultations.
- Being familiar with the trends and concerns of the School, as well as the information needs and research interests of its faculty and students.
Keep in mind that all the librarians at Vise Library can provide help to faculty and students in any School at Cumberland. We ask that you contact the liaison assigned to your School first, and if they are not available, another librarian at Vise Library will be happy to help you.
