Preparing today's students for the jobs of tomorrow is the goal of Cumberland's history program. With a degree in history from Cumberland University, students can pursue careers as historians, lawyers, government employees, media personnel, museum curators, archivists and teachers, as well as gaining a sound base for success and service to society.
Students who plan to teach history complete a dual major in Secondary Education. This dual-degree option is offered collaboratively by History and Education faculty to ensure that Cumberland graduates interested in teaching in Tennessee’s schools are highly qualified to teach in their subject areas.
