HOMECOMING 2009: Schedule of Events


Monday, October 5

10th Annual Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament --  It's time to put on your golf cleats and participate in our 10th Annual Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament.  This year, this tournament will take place at the prestigious and private course at Five Oaks Golf & Country Club right here in Lebanon, Tennessee.  Click here for all of the information about the Golf Tournament.

Friday, October 9

CU Soccer vs. Union University (2:00pm until 6:00pm) -- Catch the Women's and Men's soccer teams take on Union University.  Women's match begins at 2:00pm and the Men's match begins at 4:00pm.  Both games will take place at Friendship Christian School.

Free Alumni Reception (6:30 until 8:00 p.m.) -- Join fellow alumni and friends for a casual, family-friendly reception in Baird Chapel.  Our reception this year will feature decor and food to go with our theme of "Honor the Past, Live for the Future: A Journey Through the Decades."  We will feature heavy hors d’œuvres and drinks at each station.   What a great opportunity to honor the past, visit each decade, and to be a part of the future.  This free event will offer a great opportunity to meet and greet old friends while preparing for an exciting weekend! Reunion - Classes of the late 1980s - early 1990s -- CU students from the late 1980s to early 1990s are hosting a mini-reunion in conjunction with the Free Alumni Reception during Homecoming week!  Visit the Facebook event for more information: CU Reunion.

Spirit Rally (8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) --  Come help rev up the crowd and cheer on the Bulldogs at the Spirit Rally on Memorial Lawn.  Hear the Phoenix Drum and Bugle, watch our cheerleaders perform, and cheer on your Cumberland Bulldogs!

 

Saturday, October 10

With tailgating, and the big game versus Faulkner University, Saturday will see thousands descend upon One Cumberland Square.

Homecoming Parade (10 a.m.) --  Watch in the square as Homecoming attendants, the Phoenix Drum and Bugle Corps, floats, fire trucks, clowns, and much more parade through downtown Lebanon in support of your Cumberland University Bulldogs!

Alumni Reunions (10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.) -- Please contact Justin Bradford, Coordinator of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving, at 615.547.1253 or at jbradford@cumberland.edu for details.


Campus Tours (10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.) -- Has it been been awhile since you have visited campus?  Want to see what is in the near future?  We will gladly take you on a campus tour to re-familiarize yourself with the CU campus!

Tailgating (11 a.m. until 1 p.m.) -- Sponsored by the Lebanon/Wilson Chamber of Commerce Sports Council Be sure to arrive at Lindsey Donnell Stadium a bit early for a tailgating experience like no other! Enjoy delicious food and camaraderie with old friends and fellow Bulldog football fanatics. There will also be plenty to do for the little Bulldogs-to-be, including free inflatables near the Alumni Tent.
  • Tailgating guidelines
    • All vehicles must enter and set up by 11:00 am
    • No vehicles will be allowed to enter after 11:00 am
    • No glass containers
    • No alcoholic beverages
Cornhole Tournament (11:30) - (Cumberland Football Practice Field)

The Big Game (1:30 until 4:30 p.m.) -- Come cheer on the Bulldogs as they take to the gridiron against the Eagles of Faulkner University!

         Ticket Prices:
  • $8.00 for Adults
  • $6.00 for Senior Citizens
  • Free for children 10 years old and under
  • CU Students and Faculty/Staff are Free
Post Game Celebration (4:30 p.m. - ???) -- Come celebrate Homecoming after the game at The Bull & Whistle Pub & Eatery located in The Mill at Lebanon.  This pub will be offering specials for anyone with a ticket stub from the game including a free order of fried pickles, and drink specials for those of age.  Live music will start later that night to keep the celebration going!
